The game is played in a series of quick \u201chands\u201d with a typical game consisting of 4 hands per round and 3 rounds per game. The player who has accumulated the most points at the end of the game wins.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c2\"><strong><span class=\"c3\">Objective:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"c2\">Players attempt to maneuver their pieces into a position from which they could take the white pawn in the center of the board. \u00a0When a piece is in such a position it is said to have a <strong><em><span class=\"c3 c7\">claim<\/span><\/em><\/strong>\u00a0on the pawn. \u00a0A player wins a hand when they have more pieces with a claim on the pawn than their opponent has left on the board.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c2\"><strong><span class=\"c3\">Game Components:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"c6 lst-kix_hfhbx75porfv-0 start\">\n<li class=\"c9 c2\">Chess board<\/li>\n<li class=\"c9 c2\">Chess pieces\n<ul>\n<li class=\"c9 c2\">4 Black Pawns<\/li>\n<li class=\"c9 c2\">1 White Pawn<\/li>\n<li class=\"c9 c2\">4 Bishops<\/li>\n<li class=\"c9 c2\">4 Knights<\/li>\n<li class=\"c9 c2\">2 Queens<\/li>\n<li class=\"c9 c2\">2 Kings<\/li>\n<li class=\"c9 c2\">4 Rooks<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"c6 lst-kix_hfhbx75porfv-0\">\n<li class=\"c9 c2\">1 Deck of cards\n<ul>\n<li class=\"c9 c2\">4 10s<\/li>\n<li class=\"c9 c2\">4 Jacks<\/li>\n<li class=\"c9 c2\">2 Queens<\/li>\n<li class=\"c9 c2\">2 Kings<\/li>\n<li class=\"c9 c2\">4 Aces<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"c6 lst-kix_hfhbx75porfv-0\">\n<li class=\"c9 c2\">Optional &#8211; 5 markers (such as Quarters)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"c2\"><strong><span class=\"c3\">Set Up: <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ol class=\"c6 lst-kix_a6sgsx9ampwi-0 start\" start=\"1\">\n<li class=\"c0\">Place the pawns as shown in Image A. (Note: A black square should be in the lower left corner of the board)<\/li>\n<li class=\"c0\">Shuffle the cards and deal them 1 at a time until each player has 5 cards. \u00a0The cards correspond to chess pieces as follows:\n<ul>\n<li class=\"c0\">10 -&gt; Bishop<\/li>\n<li class=\"c0\">Jack -&gt; Knight<\/li>\n<li class=\"c0\">Queen -&gt; Queen<\/li>\n<li class=\"c0\">King -&gt; King<\/li>\n<li class=\"c0\">Ace -&gt; Rook<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol class=\"c6 lst-kix_a6sgsx9ampwi-0\" start=\"3\">\n<li class=\"c0\">When a player is dealt a card, he or she places the corresponding chess piece in the white squares as indicated in Image B, with the first piece given going in square 1, second in square 2, and so on. If a player chooses, they may move the piece one square to the right. They must decide where to place the piece before their next piece is revealed.<\/li>\n<li class=\"c0\">Optional &#8211; place markers under one player\u2019s pieces to help distinguish which pieces they control. (Because one player could have 3 or 4 knights, etc and could be of different colors if you are playing with a standard chess set)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p class=\"c2\"><strong><span class=\"c3\">Playing a Hand:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"c6 lst-kix_qc9wqfdutswn-0 start\">\n<li class=\"c0\">The player furthest from the white pawn moves first<\/li>\n<li class=\"c0\">Pawns do not move and cannot be taken by other pieces<\/li>\n<li class=\"c0\">All non-pawn pieces follow normal chess rules for movement<\/li>\n<li class=\"c0\">Kings are treated the same as any other pieces.
